What we lack are not scientists but poets and people to reveal to the heart what the heart is ready to receive.

  1. Aaaahhh…SO wonderful to see Joseph Campbell being quoted so often.
He was a gift to this world…as are your photos and cats!

  2. I’m so happy you’ve been reading Joseph Campbell, little kitty! He’s a favorite of mine–I don’t think there are any legends or folk stories from around the world that he didn’t know.

  3. Just read the other comments and wanted to share a Maine Coon Cat story from a couple I met last week who live way, way north of Toronto. Their Maine Coon left home one day and never came back. They thought some wild creature had gotten him, as it’s apparently pretty much the wilderness up there. One day 20 years later, they saw a cat along the road by the woods who reminded them of him, so they stopped. When they called his name, he came right over and wound all around their legs and let them pet him. He wouldn’t go home with them, though–ran and disappeared into the woods again. Sounds a little like a tall tale, speaking of Joseph Campbell, but I suppose stranger things have happened.

    1. Cats can get up to 34, if the one source I read is to be trusted. I have heard stories of several cats now from people I know who claim their pet died at the ripe age of 23.
